Edward Gorey

I had never heard of Edward Gorey before doing this project but my first impression off his work was that I didn't really like it, I thought it was quite dark and boring but as I looked more into his work I found that his illustrations are are actually quite playful and fun, and reminded me off David Shrigleys work. Although his illustrations are not as playful and childish as Shrigley's I found that they had a dark humor about them and I began to find myself enjoying his work more and more. The piece I choose to use is from the book, 'Rumpelstiltskin' and I think it is the best piece I have came across by Gorey I love the way the illustration itself is really dark and quite creepy and different to any illustrations I have seen before that's what I like about them.
